Wales to be the first in the UK to have a Commissioner for Older People

I read with interest that Wales is to lead the world in having a Commissioner for Older People.

Two things come to mind:

  • Why isn’t the commissioner an older person? Surely an older person would have the inside track?
  • Does Wales really need another bureaucrat with a entourage of hangers on? How will the people of Wales be provided with value for money?
